Stop The Bleed

Course Overview:
Uncontrolled bleeding is a leading cause of preventable death after injury — but with the right training, anyone can save a life. The Stop the Bleed® program, developed by the American College of Surgeons, teaches participants how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and take immediate, effective action until professional help arrives.

In this hands-on course, students learn three proven techniques to control bleeding and stabilize victims:
  • Applying direct pressure to wounds
  • Packing wounds to control severe bleeding
  • Correctly applying a tourniquet

The course is open to anyone — including students, teachers, workplace teams, and community members — who wants to learn how to respond confidently in an emergency. No prior medical training is required.

During this interactive one-hour class, participants learn how to protect themselves and others by understanding the risks associated with bloodborne pathogens and how to prevent exposure through proper safety practices.

First Due on the Working Incident- Preparation for the First Arriving Fire Officer

First Due Officer on the Working Incident is an interactive leadership and decision-making course designed to prepare officers and acting officers for the critical first moments of a working incident. Developed by the instructional team at 9-Echo-1 Training, this program focuses on leadership, communication, and command decision-making under real-world conditions.

Through a blend of interactive discussion, tactical simulations, and case-based scenarios, participants learn how to effectively organize resources, establish command, and make informed decisions when the pressure is on. The course is ideal for company officers, acting officers, and senior firefighters preparing to assume leadership roles in the fire service.

Training includes:
  • Building rapport and leading with credibility
  • Utilizing pre-plans and run cards for operational readiness
  • Conducting structured, professional radio size-ups using CAN reports
  • Applying the Incident Command System (ICS) effectively
  • Setting and communicating clear incident objectives
  • Using tactical worksheets for accountability and resource management
  • Managing command transitions and maintaining radio discipline
  • Conducting effective post-incident critiques to promote continuous improvement
